About the Toyota bZ4X
With the introduction of the revolutionary Toyota bZ4X, making the transition to an all-electric vehicle no longer means having to make sacrifices on style, comfort, or capability. Helping to usher in a new era of innovation, Toyota remains committed to investing over $70 billion in the EV segment as a whole with an objective of launching 3.5 million BEVs across the world by 2030. Engineered to defy convention with futuristic exterior styling, the bZ4X retains the same familiar functionality of a traditional SUV to help you get out and explore. From urban cityscapes to the rugged outdoors, its sophisticated all-electric powertrain delivers a maximum EPA-estimated driving range of up to 252 miles per charge**. Paired with the confidence of an available all-wheel drive system, Mother Nature won’t stand between you and your weekend plans. Step inside the cabin and you’ll discover an interior space that’s engineered to balance comfort and cargo functionality. A full suite of cutting-edge connectivity and driver-assistive safety features rounds out the compelling list of advantages for the Toyota bZ4X.
What the Critics Say
In our drive around suburban San Diego, the two bZ4X powertrains felt equally spry. Both have satisfying, but not eye-widening, initial response pulling away from a stop or accelerating to pass on the freeway. Additionally, the chassis felt taut but compliant over bumps, and the steering has a decent amount of weighting.” — Car and Driver
Toyota is taking a novel approach with its bZ4X electric SUV, positioning it as a battery-electric SUV for newbies. It’s a laudable goal and one Toyota has largely achieved: The bZ4X is straightforward, approachable, and very likable, an EV that is futuristic in appearance but screwdriver-simple to operate.” — MotorTrend
What’s New for 2024
There are a number of key improvements and updates to the all-electric Toyota bZ4X for the 2024 model year. The first is the addition of a portable dual-voltage Level 1 and Level 2 charging cable that’s now included on all models. Also related, every bZ4X now includes one year of complimentary access to the EVgo network of over 950 charging stations across the country. The Advanced Park hands-free parking feature is now standard on Limited grades while XLE models receive an 8-way power adjustable driver’s seat and power lift gate as standard for 2024. Finally, the EV-specific Multi Information Display readouts have been enhanced to provide additional data views inside the Toyota bZ4X.
What Does bZ4X Stand For?
Are you curious what the name bZ4X means exactly? This futuristic EV’s name is actually quite logical when you understand the details. “BZ” actually stands for “beyond Zero” emissions in reference to this SUV’s all-electric powertrain. “4” is indicative of the vehicle’s size according to Toyota and “X” is in reference to its SUV body style. With more all-electric bZ vehicles to follow in the coming years, you can expect Toyota to follow this same naming structure.
