To start off this comparison, we can see that the RAV4 has a price advantage over the CR-V. It’s not a huge difference but it will become more relevant as we look at the other advantages offered by the RAV4. One of those is the extra power you get in the RAV4, both horsepower and torque. And you won’t just feel the difference in power, the RAV4 is also lighter, has a tighter turning circle, and offers a more engaging driving experience thanks to the 8-speed automatic transmission, a notable upgrade over the dead-feeling CVT in the CR-V.
There is a clear advantage for the RAV4 when it comes to infotainment. The stock touchscreen is bigger than the one found in the CR-V and the difference is even bigger when looking at the bigger upgraded units. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay come standard on all trims of the RAV4 but the CR-V only offers this feature on those with the upgraded infotainment system. The RAV4 offers more speakers than the CR-V and getting a six-speaker system in your CR-V requires you to upgrade to the more expensive EX trim.
The CR-V doesn’t offer any foglights at all compared to the LED lights you get with the RAV4. And while both vehicles offer the same towing capacity, the RAV4’s standard trailer sway control means you’ll have an easier time with that towing. Lastly, if you’re looking for a compact SUV with some off-roading capability, the RAV4 is available in the TRD Off-Road trim which comes with tuned suspension with front and rear stabilizer bars as well as Falken® * all-terrain tires. Aftermarket versions of this equipment would add a hefty amount to the price of the CR-V.

Winner – Toyota RAV4
While it might look at first as though these two vehicles are almost identical, a closer look at the details shows that your money goes a lot further with a RAV4. The RAV4 doesn’t just come better equipped, but it offers more versatility too, with better towing equipment and the option of offroad equipment.
